'Sad day' in state politics
SPRINGFIELD – Area lawmakers called Monday's guilty verdict for former Gov. George Ryan a low point in Illinois history, one that could affect both the upcoming elections and long-stalled ethics legislation.
"There's no question it's a disappointing day for the state and for state government," said state Sen. Dale Righter, R-Mattoon. "This whole ordeal has been disappointing."
