CHAMPAIGN – For the first time in five years, the United Way has met its fundraising goal – and that means an extra $70,000 for preschools, health care access and anti-hunger programs, among others.

The 2005 campaign brought in $2.94 million, about 1.4 percent above the goal and 8.3 percent over the 2004 total of $2,815,691, officials announced Tuesday.
