Facing the pain on fifth anniversary of 9/11
The events of Sept. 11, 2001, caught America in a stunned surprise. Five years later, it's still hard to sort out the emotions of fear, anger, despair and horror.
It's still hard to believe that terrorists could use jets filled with people as missiles against the most powerful city in the most powerful country, or that the sum of American might could not prevent an attack on the Pentagon. Only a handful of determined, doomed civilians could bring down the fourth assault on United States that day.
