Ameren proposes rate phase-in, but with interest charge

SPRINGFIELD – Amid calls for a special session to hold the line on electricity rates, Ameren offered a new plan on Tuesday to help customers adjust to a rate increase expected in January.

AmerenIP and Ameren CIPS customers will likely see a 40 percent increase after a state-ordered freeze on residential electricity rates expires at the end of this year.
