Man faces murder charges for trying to smother wife

RANTOUL – A Rantoul man is accused of trying to smother his wife in the shower.

John C. Day, 47, of 1580 Eater Drive, Rantoul, was arraigned Friday on a charge of attempted first-degree murder. Charges of domestic battery and making a false police report filed Thursday were dismissed.
