Amtrak fighting to keep new routes on track

SPRINGFIELD – Amtrak said Tuesday that it would continue selling tickets for its new, daily round-trip routes in Illinois, even as a dispute with Canadian National-Illinois Central Railroad has threatened to derail those expansion plans.

In a news release, Amtrak said it would seek an emergency order from a federal arbitration panel or the federal courts to make sure the new trains start running on Oct. 30 as planned.
