Major changes urged at UI research farms

BLOOMINGTON – A task force has recommended that the University of Illinois make sweeping changes at outlying research farms, including closing three agronomy farms and opening two new ones.

Agronomy research would also be discontinued at the Dixon Springs Agricultural Center at Simpson and would be combined with research at Brownstown Agronomy Research Center, recommended for closure, at a new Southern Illinois Research and Education Center to be located in south central Illinois.
