While they're well below most voters' radar, a handful of write-in candidates have joined the race against incumbent Democrat Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Seven gubernatorial write-in candidates registered with the Champaign County Clerk's office this year, and many of them are also registered with the state's other 109 election jurisdictions. Among the options are the Constitution Party's Randy Stufflebeam (www.runrandyrun.com); Angel Rivera, a lung transplant procurement coordinator at the University of Chicago Hospital (www.vote4angel.com); Marvin Koch, a reservist in the U.S. Navy (www.kochforgovernor.com); Libertarian Mark McCoy (www.markmccoy.com); Naperville salesman Kevin Bognar (www. bogs4ilgov.spaces.live.com); and Tim Nieukirk of the "Get Nieuked" campaign (www.myspace.com/getnieuked). Nieukirk, famous for his hilarious homemade campaign ads, has a local connection – UI student Ryan Rudd is his campaign manager.
