Champaign voters reject tax rate increase
CHAMPAIGN – By a two-to-one margin, City of Champaign Township voters on Tuesday rejected a proposed 5-cent increase in the township's tax rate.
The vote will mean some hard decisions in coming months for the township board, including consideration of the township becoming a state receiving unit and providing smaller amounts of aid for general assistance recipients, board members said.
