Frerichs edges out Myers for state Senate seat
CHAMPAIGN – One of this year's most expensive state Senate races sent an East Central Illinois Democrat to the state Senate for the first time in decades.
With all 172 precincts reporting, Gifford Democrat Mike Frerichs hung on to a narrow lead over Danville Republican Judy Myers. Unofficial results showed Frerichs with 27,101 votes to Myers' 26,584 with 1,893 for Socialist Equality Party candidate Joe Parnarauskis of Westville. Myers conceded shortly before 1 a.m.
