Republicans back John Jay for county board's top position
URBANA – Republicans crossed party lines two years ago to elect Democrats as the county board's chair and vice chair. Now they're hoping Democrats will return the favor.
When the board meets Dec. 4 for the purpose of electing officers, the Republicans will back John Jay, a retired farmer from Mahomet who serves as fire chief of the Cornbelt Fire Protection District.
