Electric rate freeze fails in House
SPRINGFIELD – A bill to freeze electricity rates for three more years failed Tuesday in the Illinois House, but a compromise plan may get a Senate hearing as soon as today.
Senate President Emil Jones, D-Chicago, has joined forces with House Republican Leader Tom Cross, R-Oswego, to try to craft a deal that utilities and consumers can both live with. They don't have much time, however. The veto session is scheduled to end Thursday.
