Van strikes wheelchair; man facing DUI charges
CHAMPAIGN – A Champaign man is accused of hitting a woman in a wheelchair while he was driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana.
Efren Carelo, 22, who listed an address in the 200 block of West Anthony Drive, Champaign, and who is listed on a police report as Efrem Carelo-Ortiz, was arraigned Tuesday on felony charges of aggravated driving while under the influence, and both driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. He is also charged with driving without a license or insurance.
