Former Champaign resident wanted in Texas
URBANA – A former Champaign man convicted of rape and escape from the Champaign County jail 27 years ago is back in the local jail pending possible extradition to Texas on a warrant for a murder from 11 years ago.
Horace Lee Wilson, 47, dubbed the "West Side Park Rapist" in the 1970s, waived extradition Wednesday in the Champaign County Courthouse in Urbana on the warrant from Texas. He will be held in the local jail without bond until picked up by Texas authorities.
