Car, semi truck accident kills Paxton woman

CHAMPAIGN – A Paxton woman was killed when her car struck a semitrailer tractor truck in north Champaign on Monday evening.

Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup said Rita Billings-Bjerre, 40, of Paxton was pronounced dead at 8 p.m. at the Carle Foundation Hospital emergency room, Urbana. The cause was traumatic head injuries, he said.
