Rantoul seen as being at 'exciting crossroads'
RANTOUL – With a new Wal-Mart Supercenter under construction and the future of the community's largest employer uncertain, an area banker says that Rantoul's economy is at a crossroads.
Ed Scharlau, vice chairman of the First Busey Corporation, told a group of community leaders today that the new Wal-Mart near the Interstate 57 interchange will likely bring about the largest retail expansion in the community's history.
