No bids received for Danville parking garage work
DANVILLE – City officials faced just one obstacle Monday before opening bids for work in its Walnut Street parking garage – there weren't any bids to open.
Charles Christopher Gaston, 17, of Danville died in April from head injuries when one of the garage stairwells collapsed. His father, Charles Gaston Jr., filed a wrongful-death lawsuit in April against the city. In October, he expanded the suit to include Schomburg and Schomburg Construction Inc. and McClintock Civil Engineering Service. Both were hired by the city in 2001 to inspect and repair the stairwell.
