Two Urbana teens caught after botched burglary attempt
URBANA – A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were being held in the Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center Saturday night for what police say may have been a string of residential burglaries in southeast Urbana.
Police caught the 16-year-old after he climbed on the roof of a house near the area of the 1200 block of East Florida Avenue, then jumped from roof to roof of nearby houses, attempting to elude pursuit. The boy eventually jumped into a yard, but he landed near Urbana Police Sgt. Andy Charles, who was chasing him with other officers.
