Villa Grove fire displaces 10 people

VILLA GROVE – Ten people were evacuated when a fire erupted in a Villa Grove apartment building on Monday.

According to a Villa Grove Fire Department report, firefighters were called to an apartment building at 710 E. Elm St. at 2:49 a.m. Monday. When firefighters arrived, they found moderate smoke coming from the building. The fire was extinguished with minor damage.

Ten residents were evacuated from their homes and relocated with the help of the Red Cross. The names of the displaced people were not identified.

There were no injuries, according to Fire Chief Ross Elston.

The state fire marshal's office was on the scene Monday to investigate the cause of the blaze.
