Champaign hires architect to design parking structure
CHAMPAIGN – Despite strong protests from one resident, the Champaign City Council voted unanimously to hire a Chicago architectural and engineering firm Tuesday to design a downtown parking deck.
Council members voted to hire Desman Inc. of Chicago, for a fee of up to $400,000, plus another $100,000 in reimbursable expenses, to design a 500-space parking deck that would be owned and operated by the city.
