Man gets 9 years for carjacking
URBANA – A former Champaign man who admitted taking part in a carjacking was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison.
Landon Phillips, 21, of Fort Madison, Iowa, formerly of the 100 block of Kenwood Road, pleaded guilty before Judge Tom Difanis to vehicular hijacking, admitting that on May 15 he joined with another man in beating an employee of the Illini Arcade, then stealing the man's car.
