Electoral board backs removal of Mingee from ballot
CHAMPAIGN – Mayoral challenger Charles Mingee appears likely not to be certified to be on the ballot for the April 17 municipal election, while Mayor Jerry Schweighart appears to have survived a challenge to his nominating petitions.
The city electoral board tentatively recommended this morning that Mingee, a 47-year-old shipping clerk, should not be certified to be on the April 17 ballot due to serious flaws with his nominating petitions.
