UI recommends noncompliance for affiliate boards
The University of Illinois is recommending its affiliate boards, which oversee the UI's research parks and support start-up companies, not comply with the state's Open Meetings Act.
The UI Research Park Board of Managers has oversight of the research parks in Urbana and Chicago. And the IllinoisVentures board provides guidance on investing public and private money in new companies. The research park and IllinoisVentures get money from the UI but are limited liability corporations and exempt from the Open Meetings Act.
