Drug case to be retried following mistrial
URBANA – A Texas man who had what a prosecutor described as "enough cocaine to supply 282,000 users" will be retried Jan. 29 following a mistrial Thursday.
A federal court jury in Urbana on Thursday voted 11 to 1 to convict Jasper Vargas, 41, of Mission, Texas, previously convicted of drug dealing, of possession of more than 5 kilograms of cocaine with the intent to distribute it.
