Local water system meeting many requirements
CHAMPAIGN – An independent public health and safety audit of Champaign-Urbana's water system shows that Illinois American Water is meeting many of its requirements, but needs improvement in some areas, according to city officials.
Champaign-Urbana officials on Thursday released a report by a Madison, Wis., based consultant, Strand Associates Inc., that examined 10 specific measures outlined in the water company's franchise agreements with the city. The cities requested such an audit in 2005 under the franchise agreement, with both sides to pay $10,000 toward the overall cost.
