Chanute group forms alumni association

RANTOUL – An idea inspired by some old friends has bloomed into the formation of an organization for people who used to work at Chanute Air Force Base.

Ron Eagan of rural Mahomet was volunteering in the archives at the Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum last year with two friends, base historian Don Weckhorst of Paxton and former Chanute instructor Dale Lyons of Rantoul, when they decided to hold a reunion for former Chanute personnel.
