Committee OKs ban on smoking throughout state
SPRINGFIELD–Legislation to ban smoking statewide easily cleared its first major hurdle on Wednesday, winning approval from the House environmental health committee.
HB 246, which still needs approval from the full House and Senate, prohibits smoking in all Illinois workplaces and indoor public areas, including bars, restaurants, casinos and bowling alleys.
