Parkland conference focus on education challenges
CHAMPAIGN – Addressing the news of the day at a Parkland College conference Thursday, Chancellor Richard Herman praised University of Illinois students and fans for ending the Chief Illiniwek era gracefully.
"It's been quiet on campus lately," joked Herman, of UI trustees' decision to banish the Chief from games and the controversy that preceded the basketball game Wednesday when the Chief danced his last dance. Herman was keynote speaker at Parkland's eighth Futures Conference.
