Cities want to partner up with water company
The city councils in Urbana and Champaign will be asked this week to endorse a draft strategic plan that calls for creating "a public-private partnership" with Illinois American Water.
Champaign Mayor Jerry Schweighart and Urbana Mayor Laurel Prussing both said Friday they support the key elements of the draft plan for working with Illinois American Water to improve water services – particularly a call for "cooperation and transparency" between the cities and the water company.
