Lawyer files suit over UI decision on Chief
URBANA – A Champaign lawyer known for his outspokenness has filed suit against the University of Illinois Board of Trustees over the decision to retire Chief Illiniwek.
John Gadau, 64, a graduate of the UI College of Law and longtime supporter of UI athletics, filed suit in Champaign County Circuit Court on Monday asking a judge to declare that the actions of the trustees in retiring the UI's symbol to have been beyond their statutory authority.
