City fields proposals for projects on two lots
CHAMPAIGN – The city has received two proposals to develop the south half of Parking Lot J in Campustown, including one from a Chicago firm for a 13-story mixed-use building there and one from JSM Development of Champaign for an eight-story building.
The city also received a single proposal, from a Madison, Wis., firm to develop a tax-credit apartment building that would combine living space and work studios for artists and entrepreneurs. It is proposed for the north half of the parking lot near the intersection of North Walnut and Washington streets, north of The News-Gazette building at 15 Main St.
