Hoopeston police investigating theft by city worker
HOOPESTON – The Hoopeston police department has investigated a city employee accused of taking funds from the city and has handed over the police reports to the Vermilion County State's Attorney for consideration of formal charges.
Hoopeston Police Chief Mark Drollinger said his department was recently asked by the Hoopeston City Council to investigate a possible theft of missing funds. The city employee, whose name is not yet being released, came forward, Drollinger said, and admitted taking money while employed by the city.
