Township seeking financial assistance from city
CHAMPAIGN – City of Champaign Township is asking the city for financial help to restore general assistance benefits to the previous levels, before they were slashed to $100 per month on Feb. 1.
But Champaign City Council members, with one exception, seemed cool to the idea of a city subsidy of the township's welfare program.
