House Democrats start to outline budget priorities
SPRINGFIELD – After overwhelmingly rejecting the governor's $7.6 billion gross receipts tax in a test vote last week, House Democrats began a closed-door discussion about alternatives on Tuesday. They have yet to coalesce around a specific plan, however.
"We came to no conclusions," said House Speaker Michael Madigan, D-Chicago. "We didn't even attempt to come to any conclusions."
