3 police officers hurt in shootout
CHAMPAIGN – Deputy Police Chief John Murphy was thankful this morning as he rested in his Mahomet home after being injured in a shootout involving Champaign police and an apparently homeless man.
Murphy, another male officer and a female officer and the homeless man were wounded in a "near-worst-case" shooting near West Side Park on Thursday evening.
