Overtime session moving slowly at best
SPRINGFIELD – The first week of overtime session featured a lot of posturing, but no progress toward a budget deal.
Three consecutive days of meetings among the governor and the four legislative leaders failed to produce an agreement in any critical areas, such as health care, education funding, gambling, pensions, infrastructure or taxes. There's also no agreement on electricity rate relief, an issue many say must be resolved before any budget can be approved.
