Aunt, uncle to be tried in restraint case
DANVILLE – A Hoopeston couple will stand trial for allegedly chaining their adult mentally handicapped niece to a bed in March.
Vermilion County Circuit Judge Nancy Fahey on Thursday found probable cause to try Ronald H. Schwartz and Barbara A. Schwartz each on one count of unlawful restraint. Prosecutors charged Ronald Schwartz, 66, and his wife, 64, with the offense, a Class 4 felony, on May 15.
