Champaign will attempt to intervene in MTD lawsuit
CHAMPAIGN – With one council member warning that the city can't allow itself to be "Balkanized," the city council voted 8-1 Tuesday night to authorize intervention in a lawsuit over the creation of the Champaign Southwest Mass Transit District.
Three council members said the city needs to support the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District and can't allow some residents to opt out of property taxes for some services.
