Hari attorney set to file motion against sentence

PAXTON – The attorney for twice-convicted murderer David A. Hari, 44, of Paxton said he will file a motion to reconsider the sentence handed down this week and also the judge's denial of a third trial in the matter.

Hari received a sentence of 48 years for murder and a consecutive 25 years for attempted murder during a hearing in Ford County Circuit Court on Monday. Ford County Assistant Public Defender David Rumley of Urbana said he argued the sentence was "essentially a death sentence" because Hari will be 45 in August. Rumley asked for a sentence of 20 years for the murder and 6 years for the attempted murder.
