New research farm trying out techniques
DOWNS – Before rains came last weekend, Jason Webster was depressed by the sight of the crops he tends for Beck's Hybrids, especially the parched, rolling corn.
But 1.76 inches of rain finally fell on Webster's corn, most of which had had just one rain since it was planted, on his soybeans and even on the weeds he deliberately planted in one patch to help visiting Beck's employees practice identification.
