Police to be on lookout for unsafe drivers
State troopers will be watching for unsafe drivers during the July 4 holiday period this week.
State police and 172 local agencies plan to carry out 230 Roadside Safety Checks and conduct 87 Saturation Patrols through July 8. The law enforcement crackdown is backed by funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation and coupled with a campaign to remind motorists: "You Drink & Drive. You Lose."
