Volunteers help with home fixes in Broadlands
You don't have to go too far from home to find people in need of a helping hand. That's what Laura Widstrom and the Rev. Patty Anderson learned when they started Mission Camp from their church in Rockford.
Their teams were assisting residents of Broadlands last week with home-improvement projects to make their homes warmer, safer and drier. About 40 people from five churches came to the Broadlands-Longview area to paint, replace roofs, drywall and do carpentry repairs. Most of the workers are high school students, along with college students and adult helpers. There is no cost to the homeowners.
