Rantoul goes with higher bid to install new chiller
RANTOUL – Village officials will go with a higher bid to replace the chiller for the air-conditioning system at the north end of the Cingular Wireless building the village owns.
Rantoul Village Board members agreed to spend $73,686 for a 150-ton unit from Thermosystems Inc., Lombard. Public Works Director Greg Hazel told the board that though Huzeker Trane of Peoria was low bidder at $64,070, after analyzing the two pieces of equipment, the unit from Thermosystems would be cheaper to operate over 20 years. He said the payback period on the initial money spent would be only two years.
