Bridge restoration expected to take months
DOWNS – Two-way traffic on Interstate 74 near Downs could resume in four to six weeks, but it won't be back to full capacity for months, a transportation official says.
Crews from the Illinois Department of Transportation started work Wednesday repairing the I-74 bridge over Kickapoo Creek, which has been reduced to one eastbound lane since Saturday night.
