State OKs funds to woo FutureGen plant
SPRINGFIELD –The Illinois House on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved legislation to help the state land the $1.5 billion FutureGen project.
Tuscola and Mattoon are competing against each other and the Texas communities of Jewett and Odessa to host what is touted as the world's cleanest-burning coal plant. FutureGen is expected to create at least 1,300 jobs during the four-year construction period and at least 150 permanent jobs after that.
