Agency finishes sale of student loans
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Student Assistance Commission sold $1.38 billion worth of student loans on Monday to help fund grants for low-income college students.
"Today's sale transaction enables (the commission) to send 17,500 students to college, move debt off the books, unload a revenue-losing portfolio and return our focus to Illinois students," said a statement from Executive Director Andrew Davis.
