Investigation into dead horses found on farm continuing
CHARLESTON – Coles County Sheriff's detectives found 14 dead horses on a farm on the southwest edge of Charleston on Wednesday.
The investigation, prompted by a neighbor's complaint of a horrible odor, found the dead horses in varying stages of decomposition, plus some live horses that appeared emaciated, said Coles County Sheriff's Lt. Tad Freezeland.
