New police, fire memorial proposed
CHAMPAIGN – Connie Finney was in downtown Champaign two years ago, enjoying an evening with her husband, Police Chief R.T. Finney, when he took her to see the city's fire and police memorial.
The memorial, at the northeast corner of West Side Park, was built in 1913 and honors the two police officers and one firefighter in Champaign who have died in the line of duty.
