Professors: Tragedy a sign of our aging infrastructure
Jerome Hajjar drove across the Interstate 35W bridge plenty of times as an engineering professor at the University of Minnesota from 1992 to 2005.
And while Hajjar, a University of Illinois professor, didn't cross his fingers on the drive, he remembers that the bridge over the Mississippi River was one the engineering community in Minnesota discussed as kind of a poster child for the nation's aging bridges.
