Out-of-state college tax penalty repeal approved
SPRINGFIELD – Illinois parents who invest in out-of-state college savings plans can now get the same state tax breaks as those who choose to invest in the in-state plans.
At the request of Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, Gov. Rod Blagojevich recently signed legislation repealing a state tax penalty that has been in place since 2002.
